Reiki therapy is an original method of healing developed by Mikao Usui in Japan early in the 20th Century.
The energy of Reiki can be used to great effect in many ways and help in almost every condition, be it physical or physiological - Reiki is especially effective for treating stress and worries. In essence the therapist will use their hands as a tool to re-align and channel your own energies and healing qualities to bring about the effect you desire. There are really very few contra-indications with Reiki therapy as to when you should not have treatment - the only main ones being Pregnancy and when suffering from broken bones. If in any doubt about having Reiki therapy then you should discuss your condition with the therapist.
A Reiki session is normally carried out with the client lying down on a couch or in a sitting position. As the treatment is non-invasive there is no need to remove any clothing and very often you will be covered with a blanket to maintain your body temperature. The therapist will then place their hands gently in several positions over your body, checking all the time for imbalances. There is no need for you as a client to do anything except to accept the treatment. During a Reiki treatment a client may feel flows of energy, tingling or a change in body temperature - other times they might not feel any effects, but the Reiki is still working.
Afterwards you need to listen to your body which might need rest or refreshments as the healing process will continue for several days after the Reiki treatment.
